LOGISTICS OFFICER (HOSEA AND ELAINE)

HOSEA

Being in the main committee in Elders has been a life-fulfilling experience as it taught me other aspects that academics never did. It allows me to work together with the other committee members and plan meaningful events during Chinese New Year, Christmas and Mid-autumn festivals etc.

Although the logistics job might be just a simple and mundane role which involves collecting sponsored items before the event and managing the inventory stock list. Besides, we will help to assist the planning committee in their logistics as well as ensure that the required equipment and prizes are delivered to the event venue so that the elderly can receive their goodie bags or prizes on time. Meals for event are also under our charge, we are able to get first pick on the menu.

Other than doing my job as a Logistic Officer, we’re also required to step up as a Group leader for a group of volunteers. As one of the GL, I tried to bond my OG and guide them through their volunteering experience. Joining Elders is the best decision made in life and I’m truly thankful to give more than what I’ve received. To the next logistics team, all the best and enjoy the process.

ELAINE

It is my second year joining Elders' Main Committee and I would say that these two years have been fulfilling and fun. In my first year, I joined as a biz mag with the main role of engaging and managing sponsors. In the second year (a.k.a this year), I took on the role as a logistics officer. My main duty included collection of sponsorship items, packing of cupboards and assisting the centreheads in their events. I would say that for logistics, the main event would be Volunteer Orientation Day.

Over the past 2 years, I have heard many who are worried about the commitments and job scopes of the various positions in the elders committee. I would say from what I experienced, regardless of my position as a biz mag or logs, it was manageable and there was always a partner to help me out during my busy periods. Whenever I had doubts or uncertainty, there was always the previous committee to guide us along and also seniors who gave us an insight or two. If there were any genuine mistakes made, the committee is always quick to come in and help. If you are considering about taking on a new position, I would say just try and you never know what you will learn out of this! Jia you!
