VICE-CHAIRPERSON (ZHI WEI)

As Vice-Chairperson, I share the workload with the Chairperson and offer help whenever and wherever necessary. The nature of the Vice-Chairperson role is to plan portfolio-wide events and oversee the centres' events that are planned by the respective Centre-Heads and Assistant Centre-Heads. A Vice-Chairperson should seek to enhance the volunteering experience of volunteers and maintain a good relationship with fellow committee members.

During my term of office as Vice-Chairperson, I learnt the importance of adopting a bird's eyes view during the planning stages, therefore ensuring a smooth execution. It was a refreshing change to be more involved in the behind-the-scenes of the many activities and events planned for the elderly. It definitely provided a great platform to understand the portfolio and its members better. The opportunity to work with many talented and keen individuals is one that I will hold close to my heart.

The role "Vice-Chairperson" may seem daunting at first, but speaking from experience, it was one that revolved around my personal values and that of my fellow committee members. Like liquid, the Vice-Chairperson is one who evolves to fill in the gaps, one who aims to be there to provide support for everyone. It was a challenge that I truly embraced. I was glad to be able to learn so much from my short term and would encourage anyone who is interested in taking on a challenge to try for the position. Feel free to approach me if you're interested to know more about the role.
