FINANCIAL CONTROLLER (VIVIAN)
Interested in managing the finances of Elders but not experienced in it? Fret not! If you think you’re meticulous and organised, these are all you need for this role!

As the Financial Controller, you’ll be handling the portfolio’s finances. The main job scope is to collect receipts on time and prepare necessary documents for claiming of money from the school.
For every Elders event, you’ll have to keep track of the budget and reimburse the expenses incurred accordingly. In addition, a simple breakdown of expenses is required for the post event write-up. When in doubts of the claiming process, you may contact the assigned Account Officer from the finance portfolio.
Besides the finances, you’ll be able to work with the main committee to improve on Elders events. The role of Financial Controller has allowed me to communicate and work with different individuals in the main committee. Furthermore, being in this position has proven me that effective communication is crucial while working in a team in order to prevent any miscommunication or information asymmetry within our team. I believe this is an important soft skill that will come in handy in your future career, regardless of industries.
Some of you might find it daunting to join Elders as a Main Committee member, especially as a Financial Controller. However, be rest assured that you’ll never be alone! The other Main Committee members will always be there to back you up and will definitely make your 1 year journey a great one! Having said that, I’m grateful for everyone in 26th Main Committee for making this journey a fulfilling and meaningful one.
